    It is good to hear that your discussion of “optionally” conveys and advocates equity leveraging as a method possibly involving using a Reverse Mortgage as asset utilization (for individuals). From a layman point-of-view, this useful financial product has often been presented as a nonviable source.

    Here's my “two cents” to possibly empowering day-to-day retirement experiences: Simply stated, this merely involves determining and pursuing relevant interests in subject matters that profoundly affects one's life in various ways. For me, this entails enhancing my financial observance and literacy as wells as staying abreast to current political events and concerns. And as a supplement, finding challenging ways to be consistently/persistently physically active accents this process. To an outside observer this may appear somewhat mundane, but such activities have proven to be quite effective towards a purposeful retirement life.

    Thank you! This is a great explanation. However....given that withdrawals from RRSP and payments from RRIF are treated as income (for the individual), and have same withdrawal tax rules...why move an RRSP account to a RRIF account, before being forced when you're 71? Why not simply withdraw from RRSP account what you need each month or quarter, etc....Is it simply because RRIF provides automatic payment each period, saving you from the hassle of having to 'request' a withdrawal from institution each month (or whatever frequency), and also having to deal with (potential) institution transaction fees? Thanks.

    • @Retirement121
      @Retirement121 2 года назад

      You are correct. The RRIF is simply an adminstrative tool to generated systematic payments from the account.

    commuted value, can part of it be moved to a spousal RRSP in Manitoba and is the remaining amount taxed at top federal and provincial bracket?

    • @haraldkoch4446
      @haraldkoch4446 2 года назад

      Why get more entangled with government. Government can rarely improve the situation. Commuted value means you are broke. When will you learn about incompetent even bad government.

    IF your financial advisor has not discussed the financial 'reset' with you - then immediately get out of the markets. Your portfolio will be worth about 25% of its value. Do your own homework. Advisors are naive. Wake up Canada. The new CPP rules are outright theft.

    I am receiving a pension.The calculation was 1.6% x avg of 5 highest years x yrs of service. An annual 2.9 % COLA comes with my pension.

    • @haraldkoch4446
      @haraldkoch4446 2 года назад

      I guess your pension is good without calculating it. The 5 highest years x yrs of service. To me this is wrong. Maybe criminal. My friend who is single worked like a maniac his last 5 years (city of Wpg) My friend took 5 months off every year before that. (Wpg doesn't need as many workers in the winter). My buddy gamed it and won at the expense of other workers. A married man or one who may have to care for a sick wife won't be able to work like a madman his last 5 years. The 5 year rule if adopted recently is a mistake. No Financial institution would ever do such a thing. The 5 year rule is a gift. There is a strong chance your pension is short about 1/3. When the next crash comes it could fall to 50% unfunded. My dad had a good pension. He retired at 50 in 1976, died at 86. It worked for him. The future of Canada seems screwed. During hyper inflation (inflation 40% or more a month for 2 years) elderly Germans in the 1920's couldn't find food so they committed suicide. Why such inflation? Government has fallen into a financial trap. It cannot reason and says yes to every new expenditure without fail.
